Police spokesperson, Constable Tumisang Moloto said mob justice led to the violence that was initially mistaken for xenophobic attacks.
This happened in Jeffsville near Phomolong in Saulsville.
“Police responded to a call of a person being attacked by community members. When police tried to rescue the person, their vehicles were stoned by the community members,” Moloto said.
Moloto said the situation was now calm with police still patrolling the area.
Information obtained by Rekord indicated the man was assaulted for breaking into homes in Jeffsville.
