NATIONAL NEWS - Former South African Revenue Service (Sars) officials say a lot more will unravel at KPMG.
The auditing firm has withdrawn all its findings and recommendations around its report into the so-called Sars spy unit and it also announced a major shake-up to its leadership in South Africa.
The report was partly responsible for the downfall of former Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan who was accused of endorsing the unit.
The allegations saw the removal of senior Sars officials.
Former Sars executive Johann van Loggerenberg says he was taken aback by statements issued by KPMG.
“When I learnt about the press conference they called, the statement issued and the fact that they were withdrawing their findings, I was quite taken aback because on Tuesday last week my lawyers had still been in consultation with their lawyers. I’ve been in constant communication with KMPG for almost two years so this came as quite the shock to me.”
