East London’s K9 search and rescue unit‚ police divers‚ Kei Mouth‚ Centane‚ Butterworth and Komga police‚ the Mdantsane cluster communications office and the tactical response team searched the river between Centane and Kei Mouth before the 18-year-old’s body was located.
According to police spokesman Lieutenant Nkosikho Mzuku‚ it is alleged that the victim‚ of Qombolo Location‚ and his two friends were looking for his father’s missing cattle near Kei Mouth farms when they were chased to the river by game reserve security guards.
The other two men survived unharmed.
Police have opened an inquest into the matter and an autopsy will be held to determine the cause of death.
