Phiyega’s office this week announced Lamoer’s contract won’t be renewed when it expires in two months’ time.
The Western Cape top cop is currently embroiled in a criminal case.
Phiyegah is required to consult with Zille and the Provincial Community Safety MEC, to find a replacement for Lamoer.
The police’s Solomon Makgale says if no agreement is reached, Phiyega will be required to take up the matter with the police minister.
“That process hasn’t started yet but what is key is that there’s management in place leading the province and they’re doing good work.”
