It is believed JL Boshoff, 36, was walking home after he had spent the evening gambling at a nearby casino.
As he was about to cross a busy road near a petrol station, a motorist allegedly skipped the stop street and hit Boshoff. The impact was so severe that he was flung into the air, bounced off the road and landed about three metres from the vehicle.
An officer from a security company who witnessed the whole incident ran to Boshoff and found him in a very bad state, but was able to tell him his name faintly.
