MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Organized motorsport in Mossel Bay received a considerable boost with the nomination of a committee that will examine the prospects for formal facilities and give impetus to development proposals.
The directorate Planning and Economic Development of the Mossel Bay Municipality initiated a public meeting held on Monday, 25 November in the Town Hall to reflect on the development of motorsport in all its facets for the town.
More than 100 motorsport enthusiasts and business people from across the Southern Cape and even the Eastern Cape attended the proceedings and excitedly responded to suggestions that an unused piece of municipal land in Mossdustria be developed for organized motorsport in all its facets.
Mossel Bay Municipality has made it clear that the initiative must be developed by the representatives of each of the various codes in motorsport. Furthermore, the challenge is to obtain funding and to reflect on a governance model for the lucrative operation of a proper motorsport facility for the town.
Everyone agreed that the initiative for Mossel Bay could be an economic injection that could bring benefits for tourism as well as job creation. Mossel Bay's location, good service delivery record, excellent facilities, and high-quality infrastructure make the town ideally suited for organized motorsports.
Suggestions that motorsport could also include the existing streets of Mossel Bay a la Monaco have been raised and great appreciation was expressed for the successful event by the numerous Lamborghini's earlier this year.
