MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Garden Route Zen Group has announced that it has moved the group activity to the Mossel Bay area from the start of this year.
Also known as the Jung Shim Zen Group, it has been based in the Wilderness and George area since 2009. It was felt that the time is right for offering Zen Practice to a wider community.
The group now offers meditation and formal Zen practice every Wednesday evening from 18:00 to 19:30 at Fly Me To The Moon Guest House in Aalwyndal.
Zen is a practice of mindful awareness and, like yoga or other similar practice, it is a lifetime study.
There is no age limit but children under 12 find it difficult to practice silent meditation. Attendance is by donation but there is no charge for the teaching.
The group is part of the International Kwan Um School of Zen and regularly has visiting teachers from around the world. They expect Kwan Mi Sunim, a long-serving Zen nun, to bring her fresh style of teaching during a visit scheduled for mid-April.
Interested parties should contact Gerry, Dharma Teacher of the group (082 37 73 280 or alreadyone2@gmail.com) or Fiona (082 604 5893).
