GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - In its regional forecast today, Sunday 28 July, the SA Weather Service issued a level 2 weather warning for damaging waves from midnight Sunday until 23:00 on Monday.
This could lead to difficulty in navigation at sea. The affected area is between Alexander Bay and Plettenberg Bay on Monday morning, but persisting between Cape Agulhas to Plettenberg Bay into Tuesday morning, 30 July.
South-westerly swells with wave heights of 4-5.5m are expected on Monday.
These wave conditions will subside along the west and south-west coast, but persist between Cape Agulhas and Plettenberg Bay throughout Monday into Tuesday morning.
Westerly to north-westerly winds (40-60km/h) are also expected between Cape Point and Plettenberg Bay on Monday. The combined wind and waves conditions will result in rough and choppy seas.
Be aware of large unpredictable waves along the coast. Small vessels are advised to seek shelter in harbours, bays or inlets.
