Update
MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Confirmed feedback indicates that the N2 in both directions remains open although incidents of stone throwing were reported earlier today. The police are monitoring the situation.
The R328 remains closed.
Louis Fourie Road remains closed past Asla Park where marauding mobs are intimidating residents not to go to work today. The public order policing units and local police and law enforcement officers are on hand to take care of the situation.
On Louis Fourie Road, in the direction of Hartenbos, the traffic congestion has eased thanks to the sterling work of the several Mossel Bay municipal traffic officers who assisted.
The community of Asla Park is urged to keep their children at home. Indications are that several young children are among the protesters and are participating in the violence. Incidents of children as young as eight years or ten years throwing stones have been reported.
"It is for your own safety and for the safety of the community at large that we appeal to parents to keep their children away from the protest and safely at home," the municipal manager, adv Thys Giliomee urged.
