MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Mossel Bay Association for Persons with Disabilities (APD) supports the initiative and focus of National Child Protection Week from 30 May to 6 June, with its theme being, Let us all protect children during Covid-19 and beyond.
The children at the APD Day Care Centres in Wolwedans (Mooiuitsig) and in KwaNonquba experience care, love and protection daily.
"The carers and educators ensure each child is growing up in an atmosphere of happiness, love and understanding, for the full and harmonious development of their personality in accordance with the Children's Act," says Gregory Mitchell, chairman of Mossel Bay APD.
Mitchell expressed his gratitude to the staff for making it possible for these children to participate in appropriate holistic, wholesome activities, providing each child with conditions that ensure dignity and promote self-reliance, while recognising the special needs the children and their families may have.
"We encourage the whole community to reflect on the roles it can play in protecting the rights of young people. All children have value, worth and dignity. All children are deserving of respect, acceptance, protection and most of all, lots of love."
