MOSSEL BAY NEWS - In March 2020, just when the lockdown started, Warrant Officer Amanda Naude helped to deliver a baby boy in Asla Park, Mossel Bay, during a police patrol.
Today Naude had to act as a midwife again. According to KwaNonqaba Police spokesperson WO Kappie Kapp, members of the community arrived at the police station, requesting urgent help.
They were from an informal settlement close to the police station, known as Marikana.
“The area is difficult to access by vehicle, so the police officers made their way to an informal structure speedily, where they found a 21-year-old woman in labour,” explains Kapp.
Little Grace Phaliso was born today at 10:20.
“WO Naude, with her experience gained in delivering babies, assisted the mother and everything went well. She was helped by Constable Ntaba and Assistant Clerk Mpambani. Both mother and baby were taken to the hospital for observation. Both are in good health,” reports Kapp.
