If you are one of them and camping is your way of seeing the country, the Klein Karoo will have a spot for you.
There are four camping sites in and around Oudtshoorn and two near Calitzdorp.
Kleinplaas Resort
Situated on the outskirts of Oudtshoorn this is the ideal site for those who want to enjoy the outdoors but still be right in town. Kleinplaas offers camping sites in the shade of large trees, clean and neat ablution facilities and a swimming pool. Oppie Dam This small but neat resort is situated only 15 km from Oudtshoorn on the way to the Cango Caves. Each site has its own ablution facilities and it is situated next to a large farm dam which is popular with anglers.
Cango Mountain Resort
Managed by Oudtshoorn Municipality this resort offers ample camping sites at the foot of the mountains about 25 km from Oudtshoorn on the way to the Cango Caves. There are two swimming pools. The resort is also open to day visitors but this area is separate from the camping sites. De Hoe k Reso r t The resort is managed by the Garden Route District Municipality and is situated at the foot of the Swartberg Mountains approximately 6km from the Cango Caves. De Hoek offers large camping sites of which some are shaded as well as a swimming pool and hiking routes. It is also open to day visitors.
Calitzdorp Spa
This is one of two resorts where visitors can enjoy natural hot springs. Managed by the Garden Route District Municipality, the Calitzdorp Spa offers shaded camping sites, access to hot baths as well as swimming pools for those who prefer colder water. The spa is situated outside Calitzdorp and is well marked with signposts.
Karoo Water Guest farm
This privately owned resort with its hot spring water offers camping sites that are not accessible to day visitors. Apart from the hot mineral bath, there is a swimming pool and a restaurant with Calitzdorp only a few kilometres away for the day-to-day shopping.
