KWANONQABA NEWS - A pedestrian was killed in an accident on the N2 near the KwaNonqaba area on Thursday, 20 June.
A culpable homicide case has been opened by the KwaNonqaba police following the incident.
According to police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Kappie Kapp, police responded to the scene, where a man had been hit by a motor vehicle, at 06:30, and was later joined by other emergency crews.
"A 66-year-old man was declared dead at the scene by medical personnel. Circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated."
Kapp said according to preliminary reports, the man, a KwaNonqaba resident, was hit while hitchhiking.
The investigating officer in the matter is Warrant Officer Errol Barnard, and any information relevant to the incident can be directed to his office (044 606 5631).
