MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Life Healthcare, one of South Africa's leading private hospital groups, annually celebrates its nurses through its Great 100 Nurses awards and a nurse from Mossel Bay's Life Bay View Private Hospital is among the winners this year.
Local registered nurse Melanie Claassen is one of 100 nurses from 66 healthcare facilities nationally to receive an accolade.
This year's national celebratory event could not be held due to the pandemic, however, the hospitals held small celebrations to honour their award recipients.
Life Bay View Hospital manager Lida Swart says: "Nurses are the backbone of our company. We value our award recipient and nominees and thank them for dedicating their lives to making life better for others."
This year marks a decade of honouring 100 Life Healthcare nurses from throughout the country, who have made a significant difference to the profession of nursing and to the lives of patients, their peers, Life College of Learning nursing students and the community.
The Great 100 Nurses initiative involves Life Healthcare nurses nominating their peers who epitomise efficiency, quality and compassion in their daily work – which contributes to patients' hospital experience.
