MOSSEL BAY NEWS AND VIDEO - Activists, among them friends and family of Naledi Phangindawo, arrived at the Mossel Bay Magistrate’s Court this morning where a 34-year-old suspect accused of her murder is making his first court appearance.
This is a culmination of several peaceful gatherings this week to honour the life of Phangindawo and to take a stand against gender-based violence.
Phangindawo was brutally murdered when a man, known as her former intimate partner and father of her children, attacked her on Saturday night, 6 June. Phangindawo died of multiple wounds after she was attacked with a knife and an axe.
The suspect handed himself over to the police in Cape Town on Sunday night and was transferred back to Mossel Bay to appear in court.
Police arrived at court this morning and asked the group to disperse in terms of the lockdown regulations.
