MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Although there were 101 babies born in the Western Cape on New Year's Day, the stork did not pay a visit to Mossel Bay.
The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness said that 43 girls and 58 boys were born across the province, with the first baby to be born at 00:07 at George Hospital to Esmerelda Bordtjies.
The department says that three sets of twins were born, two at Tygerberg Hospital and one at Groote Schuur Hospital.
However, out of these 101 births, none were recorded in Mossel Bay.
The department congratulates all parents and caregivers on the safe delivery of their babies and also extends heartfelt thanks to the healthcare workers, especially midwives, who sacrificed time with their own families to provide exceptional care to others on this special day.
"As we embrace a new year filled with possibility, let’s commit to giving our children the best possible beginning - together, we can help every family and new life start well," says the department.
