MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The two men (aged 32 and 40) alleged to have been involved in an armed robbery in central Mossel Bay last Thursday, 27 August, have been released from police custody pending further investigation.
A 24-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint on George Road, which runs past De Bakke and Santos Beach. A cellphone, ID card, fishing licence, cash and Adidas backpack were stolen from the victim.
A joint operation by Mossel Bay Sea Border and the Mossel Bay, Da Gamaskop and KwaNonqaba Police led to the arrest in Petersen Street in D’Almeida later that day.
The men were expected to appear in the Mossel Bay Magistrate’s Court on Monday 31 August; however, a Southern Cape Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Chris Spies, said the matter was not enrolled pending outstanding investigation.
“The investigation into this matter is still under way, and the investigating officer also urged the complainant in the matter to contact the Mossel Bay Detectives,” he said.
