Update

MOSSEL BAY NEWS - A 38-year-old man was shot dead in H. Dangatye Street in JCC Camp, Mossel Bay last night. According to members of the public the man murdered was a spaza shop owner.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Malcolm Pojie says the suspect then took the victim's delivery vehicle after the murder.

"Police members attended to the crime scene, where they found the victim with a gunshot wound to his body. The victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel."

The suspect then crashed into a fence with the vehicle.

Pojie says a 20-year-old suspect was arrested while trying to flee the accident scene across from the Hotel Portao Diaz .

Da Gamaskop police are investigating a case of murder and a case of hijacking.
The suspect will appear in the Mossel Bay Magistrate's Court once he has been charged.
