MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Thirteen people, of whom 10 are minors, were arrested for the murder of Yongama Tiko.
Tiko was murdered on Sunday morning, 30 June at about 02:40 in Scholtz Street. He was stabbed 27 times with a sharp object and died in hospital as a result.
The investigating officer, Detective-Sergeant Ella Mentoor of the KwaNonqaba police, arrested the alleged perpetrators after valuable information was received from eye witnesses who could also positively identify a number of the suspects.
The police managed to trace some of the knives that were used in the attack which is said to be gang related.
Tiko was identified at the hospital by his mother. Doctors have confirmed that some of the wounds were the result of a panga attack.
The KwaNonqaba police thank the community for taking a stand against gang-related violence and for making valuable information available. Tiko, who was from Asla Park, may have been attacked by gang members, merely for being in KwaNonqaba.
