MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The case of 37-year-old Thabo Mabunda, arrested on a charge of attempted murder earlier this year, has been struck from the court roll, pending the conclusion of the police investigation.
It is alleged that Mabunda, a law enforcement officer for the Mossel Bay Municipality, shot a man at The Point on 24 January.
The man was rushed to hospital with a gunshot wound to his body. Mabunda was off-duty at the time and was arrested by the Mossel Bay Police shortly after the incident. They confiscated a licenced 9mm firearm.
Mabunda appeared in the Mossel Bay Magistrate's Court on Monday, 26 May, when the court heard that the police were still awaiting the ballistic report from the police's Forensic Science Laboratory.
The report is expected to be finalised in September or October this year.
The matter was thus struck from the roll until the ballistic report has been concluded.
Mabunda is currently out on bail of R5 000.
