MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Mossel Bay Municipality has said that the low-water bridge on the Vleesbaai road to Gouritsmond has been closed due to flooding.
In a Facebook post on its page this morning, 8 May, it said high volumes of water have been flowing down the Gouritz River since last night. Motorists are urged to use the alternative route to Gouritsmond, via the N2 towards Albertinia.
The municipality said the Hessequa District Municipality’s Fire, Rescue and Disaster Management had rescued a man from the bridge early this morning after his vehicle had become stuck in some debris.
It urged everyone to keep clear of the spillway and riverbanks as a safety precaution, and not to cross any flooded roads or low-water crossings.
