MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Management staff at the Mossel Bay Provincial Hospital stood in anticipation today, 11 January as a truck filled with donations to assist in the fight against Covid-19 arrived.
Among the donations, including a variety of personal protective equipment, were CPAP (Continuous Airway Pressure) Machines.
CPAPs are most commonly used for obstructive sleep apnea treatment, using pressurized air which is forced down the airway to keep the airway open and free from obstruction.
The oxygen machines delivered today were produced by Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), approved by health regulator SAHPRA and funded by the Solidarity Fund.
The CPAP machines are operated mechanically and are dependant on reliable oxygen infrastructure at hospitals and clinics.

He continued that donations, mainly being PPE, will also be made to old age homes in Mossel Bay as well as local police stations.
Gift of the Givers will make donations in the Garden Route for the rest of the coming week.
