GREAT BRAK NEWS - The Grootbrak Palette & Taste, hosted at venues throughout Great Brak River from 28 April to 30 April, presented an excellent opportunity for talented village residents and local businesses to socialise with visiting creatives and national celebrities.
Participants showcased their art to a wide range of visitors. On the menu were displays, demonstrations, workshops, talks and live musical performances.
Culinary and liquid treats were proffered in equally generous measures.
Grootbrak Palette & Taste highlights included the presence of media luminary Martelize Brink, who dazzled with entertaining stories during an evening, themed Woord, Wyn & Kuns at Seeplaas restaurant.
The same intimate venue was decked out with magnificent 3D sculptures, thanks to Ken Maloney Art Gallery.
Each piece, inspired by an actual place in the world, gave the illusion of depth and reality to captivate appreciative viewers.
One of several wine pairings presented during the three-day festival was a stoepkuier hosted by Diemersdal brand ambassador Charné Meyer, featuring the estate's Pinotage and Sauvignon Blanc, as well as insights on the art of winemaking.
Wêreldreise & Craft Beer with Johan Bakkes and Alewijn Dippenaar, presented on both the Friday and Saturday of the festival, served as a showcase of Johan's adventure tales and writing talent. Alewijn provided valuable insights on craft beer.
