MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Christiaan Stopforth, a well-known photographer and videographer from Mossel Bay, captured a video of the neap tide at Diaz Beach on Saturday, 11th May.
During low tide, the Moon is positioned at a right angle to the Sun, causing the gravitational forces of the Moon and Sun to counteract each other.
These tides are known as neap tides, characterized by a lower than average tide. A neap tide, seven days after a spring tide, refers to a period of moderate tides when the sun and moon are at right angles to each other.
A spring tide is a common historical term that has nothing to do with the season of spring.
