MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Garden Route District Municipality executive mayor, Councillor Memory Booysen, his wife Elethu and his personal assistant, Adlen Paulse, on Friday, 21 February tried out the Mossel Bay Zipline.
He was joined by supporters from Mossel Bay Municipality and a crowd of supporters around the zipline and Big Blu restaurant.
Councillor Booysen told the Mossel Bay Advertiser before his ride that he was told by Mossel Bay municipal manager Thys Giliomee about the development and said he wanted to experience it for himself and tell about it.
"I am excited and I am nervous, so I will be in a position to tell you when I am done," Councillor Booysen said.
After the three of them had their rides Councillor Booysen said: "This is the best adrenalin shot you can have anywhere in the world. This is fun, this is great, this is the best thing on the Garden Route."
In a press release, Councillor Booysen said Elethu convinced him to do it.
"He is scared of heights and especially hard adventures, but we do these activities as long as I do them with him. I also gave him the option to pull out if he felt too scared," she said. This was the first time Counsellor Booysen had embarked on an extreme adventure activity. He has only done some soft adventure activities such as "hiking at Robberg in Plettenberg Bay and in Wilderness", said Elethu.
The next adventures she plans to convince him to do include bungee jumping at Storms River and whale watching at Plettenberg Bay.
