MOSSEL BAY NEWS - KwaNonqaba Police Station clerk Cynthia Nofemele assisted in the arrest of a man who had fraudulent documents, because of her dedication and keen eye in her daily work.
Nofemele, who has also been a police reservist since 2009, was in the office at the station, working through police clearances for immigrants on 13 August when she noticed that some of the temporary work permits brought to her by the immigrants had been issued the very same day they came for the clearance.
"It made me suspicious and I asked the next person who came with a permit, issued that same day, how he had got it. He told me he had used an overnight courier," said Nofemele.
She said she immediately sent a message to an official at the Western Cape Department of Home Affairs about the suspicious papers and soon received confirmation that they were indeed fraudulent.
KwaNonqaba Police Station spokesperson Warrant Officer Kappie Kapp said the man was then arrested. He has since been released from custody, however, the investigation into the matter continues.
