MOSSEL BAY NEWS - On Mandela Day, 18 July, the Mossel Bay branch of the Association for Persons with Disabilities (APD) donated clothes to the disabled.
Mossel Bay residents who use the Nokuthula day care centre in KwaNonqaba were "extremely pleased with the gesture", APD spokesperson Antshuné Mano said.
"We touched the hearts of many."
On 1 July, the APD started a project called Winter Care, in which it asked the help of the community in donating any unused clothes, shoes and blankets to help the disabled individuals in APD's care.
"It is because of this project that we were able to make Mandela Day a huge success. We donated three full bags that contained clothes, shoes, towels and blankets.
"The elderly showed a lot of gratitude," Mano said.
The Winter Care project will continue until the end of August.
"We appeal to the community to donate clothes, shoes and blankets," Mano requested.
