MOSSEL BAY NEWS - A woman has taken over the reins at the KwaNonqaba Police Station.
Lieutenant-Colonel Azisa Mandongana said she is looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead, and assured the KwaNonqaba police members that her door will always be open for them.
"Without the support and cooperation of the rest of the members at this police station, I will not be able to do my best in our effort to serve and our community.
"The criminals, however, should realise that the KwaNonqaba police will squeeze their space; we will not let crime run rampant. This is our territory," the colonel told the Home Ads News.
Colonel Mandongana hails from Keiskammahoek in the Eastern Cape, where she was the station commander of Ndevana before she was promoted to the KwaNonqaba Police Station position.
This mother of three daughters completed her basic training in Hammanskraal before she started her career at the Balfour Police Station in Fort Beaufort. Since then she has served at Healdtown, Dimbaza and Mdantsane. She also did a stint at the provincial head office, where she was responsible for discipline management.
One of her aims is to work jointly and closely with other law enforcement agencies such as the municipal and provincial traffic authorities, the neighbourhood watch groups, the police community policing forum (CPF) and the sister departments such as Justice, Correctional Services and the National Prosecuting Authority to stem crime and criminality in the area.
KwaNonqaba serves the largest number of people and the biggest terrain of all the police stations in the greater Mossel Bay area.
"I invite the community to support structures such as the neighbourhood watch groups and the CPF in order to be the eyes and ears in support of the fight against crime."
Welcoming her to Mossel Bay, the Da Gamaskop Police Cluster and the KwaNonqaba police, the officer commanding the cluster, Brig Gerhard Jantjies said Col Mandongana has his full support.
"I believe we will work well together," the brigadier said.
