Update
MOSSEL BAY NEWS - At about noon on Monday a rubber duck was seen close to the rocks off the Point at the dangerous Windvogel in Mossel Bay.
This treacherous area has been the cause of many boating accidents and the latest incident could have ended in disaster.
The boat went up vertically in a wave and one crew member was flung from the boat, ending up in the water, while the stricken boat drifted towards the rocks where another wave then capsized the boat with all crew were flung into the water. The NSRI Station 15 was alerted and soon all emergency services were on the scene.
Skipper Jeffrey van Zyl from Bayview with crew Douglas Webber junior and senior from Bellville and Dale Konrad from George walked away from the scene with only minor cuts and bruises.
The badly damaged boat, H2O Sniper, was recovered and towed away in a combined effort of the NSRI crew and a local towing expert.
