MOSSEL BAY NEWS - If you are in possession of an unwanted or illegal firearm, ammunition and/or firearm parts, take the opportunity afforded by the firearm amnesty to hand in your firearm at your nearest police station.
Under the firearm amnesty you can hand in your unwanted firearms (such as those that you are no longer using or that in an unsafe state to use) or illegal firearms (those that are not registered to the current owner, that do not have serial number or is owned by a person who does not have a licence for that firearm) without fear of prosecution.
If you are surrendering a firearm and wish to apply for a licence for that firearm, this can be done at your closest police station during the amnesty period.
The amnesty period commenced on 1 December 2019 and ends on 31 May 2020. Firearms can be handed in to your closest police station between 08:00 and 17:00, including weekends.
