GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - The following press release was received from the Garden Route SPCA (GR SPCA):
There have been recent rumours about the Garden Route SPCA which we would like to dispel.
Rumours go around that GR SPCA only keeps animals for seven days and then put them to sleep. This is not true.
We remind the public that stray animals are held in pound for seven days and thereafter are assessed and placed up for adoption.
Please ensure your pets have updated identification on them at all times so that they can be returned to their homes.
If you lose a pet, please call our offices to report the loss, come in to the SPCA to check for your pet, check the vets in the area and put up posters with a recent photo. It is your responsibility to find your pet.
Responsible pet owners also ensure that their pets are sterilised so that they are not adding to the already burgeoning pet population. Please be a responsible and caring guardian for your beloved pets.
