MOSSEL BAY NEWS - As we are on the edge of a drought, we will never complain about rain, so when forecasts of looming rain threatened to disrupt our ladies day yet again last week, the call was made for the girls to pitch up at 09:30 and take pot luck!
This time it was not just the few diehards that arrived, but a good 20 players all in their winter protective gear, determined to play come hell or high water.
As the saying goes in Mossel Bay, (I was taught this by a wise old Mossel Bayer many moons ago) if the rain is present before seven it will be gone by eleven... which seems to work every time.
A great day was enjoyed by all and the weather played ball, albeit at times so freezing cold that one’s fingers went blue, remedied easily by a half time Jamaican hot chocolate. The game, an alliance with two scores to count, made life a little easier and some great scores were returned.
Hanli de Villiers, Elsabe Grobler, Marianda de Villiers and Lenanda van der Watt took the honours with 87 points. Second with 84 points was Rachel Mulder, Chantelle Grard, Ina Swart and Catherine Bell. Cynthia nabbed nearest the pin.
Winners of last weeks' ladies golf competition: Lenanda, Elsabe, Hanli, Marianda, Ina, Chantelle, Rachel, Cynthia and Catherine.
