MOSSEL BAY NEWS - An owl, rescued by a Little Brak River family on Wednesday, 29 June, is still being treated at the Hartenbos Animal Hospital.
The barn owl was entangled in barbed wire fencing when photographer Michael van Schalkwyk came across it while he was taking photographs in the area.
His sister, Hellen Engelbrecht, and their mother held the owl securely and untangled its feathers that were bound around the barbed wire fencing.
This week the animal hospital confirmed the owl was still there and being fed daily.
"We are really taking it day by day at this stage and first prize will be to release it back into the wild," a sister at the hospital said.
