MOSSEL BAY NEWS - By this time next week Mossel Bay will again be abuzz with the roar of big, mean machines as motorcyclists arrive for the annual Buffalo Rally.
This year a record attendance is expected, with bikers coming from far and wide.
Some will compete confidently for the prize of having travelled the longest distance to get to the event, such as a number of bikers expected all the way from Uganda.
As has become the custom, the Buff will be hosted at the De Bakke Santos resort.
The rally promises much entertainment for the visitors and also for locals who will have the opportunity to marvel at the mean machines at the Concourse D'Elegance and the Le Riche brothers' Extreme Show at the Garden Route Casino.
The mass ride will no doubt attract many a young boy with dreams of becoming a biker. Locals line Bland Street and Marsh Street to see the thousands of bikers in their leathers and club colours riding by.
The mass ride proceeds through KwaNonqaba and back to the festival arena.
At the De Bakke Santos resort there will be opportunities to shop for trinkets and food at the many stalls that line the walkway.
You can also enjoy the good-natured shenanigans of the biking club members who usually congregate under their club banners at the various camping sites.
In the big tent, bands such as Silverland Duo, Axenmore and Late Final will provide entertainment throughout the weekend.
The huge drawcard will be the fabulous main lucky draw prize money of R135 000 that will be awarded on Saturday evening.
Besides the other cash prizes up for grabs, the attractions on the agenda are the Miss Buff and Miss Wet T-Shirt competitions.
Programme announcements will be made over Buff Radio, so do tune in.
The Buffalo Rally is organised and hosted annually by the Nomads Motorcycle Club.
The club supports Mossel Bay through job creation and donations to charities.
By Sunday, the bikers will be ready to depart after a weekend of hard and fast fun, but hopefully they will have made so many good memories that they will want to return to Mossel Bay again and again.
