Update
MOSSEL BAY NEWS - There is still no completion date in sight for the fuel filling station near Hartenbos Landgoed.
Development of the site started in July 2020.
Mossel Bay Advertiser previously reported on the delays in the project.
The initial end date for construction was five months from the commencement of the project, but the development had to be paused to allow for "completion of adjacent access roads, the traffic circle, civil and electrical works", said bpSA's Hamlet Morule, communications and external affairs executive. Nico Nel, of EPCM Bonisana (the contractor) confirmed this and added that these were only completed in November 2022.
Contractual disputes also came into play, whereafter it was decided that a mutual termination of the contract between bp and EPCM would take place.
At the time, Morule said the final terms and conditions of the mutual separation would be informed by the site assessment report, which was expected to be completed by the end of October.
This was slightly delayed, but it has been wrapped up, Morule confirmed on 20 November.
"The assessment report and valuation of the remaining works took slightly longer to complete, but it is now completed. This remains a priority to us and we are duly attending to the tasks outstanding."
On further enquiry from the Advertiser about possible dates, the scope of the remaining works and the appointment of a new contractor, Morule said, "It is our view that it suffices that we are giving this the priority it deserves, and we are duly attending to the outstanding actions.
"I am not in a position to provide you with any additional, detailed information at this stage."
