GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - The Minister of Employment and Labour gazetted the new minimum wages on 7 February.
They have been set as follows
- Domestic and farm workers are entitled to a minimum wage of R23.19 per hour.
- Workers employed on an Expanded Public Works programme: R12.75 per hour.
Workers who have concluded a learnership agreement (as contemplated in section 17 of the Skills Development Act) are entitled to such allowances as depicted in Schedule 2 of the gazette on the national minimum wage.
These adjusted wage levels will come into effect from 1 March.
