MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Mossel Bay Tourism will again be attending the annual Beeld Holiday Show this weekend at the Gallagher Estate in Midrand.
It is one of the largest domestic tourism exhibitions in South Africa, with an average of 26 000 visitors annually.
Mossel Bay Tourism has used the Beeld Holiday Show every year since it started to market local attractions and usually was the only Garden Route town represented there.
The Gauteng tourism market plays a major role in terms of domestic visits to the Garden Route and Klein Karoo region. The Regional Tourism Office of the Eden District Municipality and local tourism offices will use this platform to promote the low season winter packages in the region.
"Last year the district tourism office attended for the first time and had a stand next to that of Mossel Bay Tourism. This year they decided to attend again and invited all the towns in the Garden Route and Klein Karoo to join them on their stand. This is the first year that tourism in the area will be offering a combined GR&KK stand on this particular platform," Marcia Holm of Mossel Bay Tourism said.
She said the market that visits this show is predominantly Afrikaans speaking and fond of the outdoors and of camping and hiking adventures.
"They are Mossel Bay's December and January visitors, many of whom tell us stories of how they visited Mossel Bay with their grandparents and parents and now as parents themselves bring their children to town. It is a good, strong market for Mossel Bay that needs to know 'whats new' and it visits the show to find out."
This year and the following Oudtshoorn will join the other towns on the GR&KK stand.
The free Garden Route and Klein Karoo app will also be marketed at the show. Anyone who would like to know more about the Garden Route and Klein Karoo can click here or open the applicable App Store and search for the Garden Route and Klein Karoo to download the app.
A GR&KK app competition will also be run during the course of the show. To enter, follow these easy steps:
• Step 1: Browse to the "Garden Route and Klein Karoo App" page on Facebook, "Share & like" the page.
• Step 2: Click on the mobile app post to browse to and download the Garden Route and Klein Karoo app.
• Step 3: On the app menu, between "Events" and "Festivals", click on the tab named "GR&KK competition".
• Step 4: A new window will pop up, select "Competition Entry".
• Step 5: The final step for the app users is to fill in the easy four (4) step contact form and to submit it. "Sign Up" or "Login" to enter the competition and stand a chance to win one of the many prizes on offer.
The Regional Tourism Office thanks the local tourism offices for sourcing prizes from sponsors who continuously support the Garden Route and Klein Karoo as destinations of choice.
