MOSSEL BAY NEWS - As more vaccines arrive in the province, the Western Cape will open more vaccination sites and vaccinate more people.
More appointments will be scheduled, and therefore more SMSes will be distributed to people to attend their appointments at public vaccination sites.
The Garden Route district has vaccinated 6 535 people (942 done privately) since the roll-out of Phase 2 of the vaccination campaign.
Health teams across the district are visiting senior citizens' homes and public sites have opened in some sub-districts.
Garden Route district health director, Zee Brickles, said: “The number of public sites will increase as we receive more vaccines. We urge members of the public to wait for their second SMS. While we do our best to assist walk-ins, we cannot guarantee that you will get vaccinated if you don’t have an appointment.
“I assure the public we are eager to start vaccinating as many people as we can over the shortest space of time. Our ability to open vaccination sites is dependent on the number of vaccine doses we receive from the national Department of Health.”

- Heidelberg Duivenhoks Hall: 9 & 11 June
