Update
MOSSEL BAY NEWS - A toddler, who went missing from his home in Mayixhale Street, KwaNonqaba, late on Monday was found unharmed hours later at the home of a woman who has since been arrested for kidnapping.
The three-year-old boy was found safe and sound at approximately 08:00 on Tuesday morning, 31 October at the house in nearby Klans Street.
The child was reunited with his family.
"The KwaNonqaba police thank the community for their valuable assistance in tracing the little boy," KwaNonqaba police spokesperson Sgt Kapp said.
The child was apparently abducted on Monday from directly in front of his home.
Some women from the community noticed a woman with an unknown child and became suspicious as they had never seen this child with the woman before.
When they approached and questioned the woman, she apparently claimed the child was her own and said she had earlier fetched him from Oudtshoorn, where he had been staying.
The community members, however, found it strange that the woman had no clothes for the child.
When they heard reports of a missing child, they informed the police of their suspicions.
KwaNonqaba police constables Thobani Kumkani and Doempie Duitsjan went to the house, where the community said the child might be and found him sound asleep.
After questioning the woman, the police arrested her on suspicion of abduction.
Sgt Kapp again urged the community to join community policing groups as community involvement in the fight against crime had proved invaluable again.
