Little Brak River estuary breached
The Directive authorised the excavation of a preparatory channel and will allow the municipality to breach the estuary if water levels get to two meters above sea level.

LITTLE BRAK RIVER NEWS & VIDEO - Following the earlier excavation of a preparatory channel in the Little Brak River, permission followed to breach the estuary today, Saturday, 12 September. 

This was successfully done this morning.

Mossel Bay Municipality has earlier applied to the Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning for a Directive in terms of Section 30A of the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA Act). 

The Directive authorised the excavation of a preparatory channel and will allow the municipality to breach the estuary if water levels get to two meters above sea level.
