BLOG - In order for us to be in the boat, we need to trust.
In order for the boat to function properly, you need to work together and how can one work together without trust?
See it like this: if you want to be in the same boat, you need to be able to trust that person. It will not work properly without trust – the thing that keeps it going.
I guess if you take away trust you are bound to fail. In order for everything to run smoothly one needs trust – the foundation of everything.
Take that away and everything starts to crumble, with our relationships, our friendships, everything.
It is so easy to break or lose one’s trust, and it is so hard to gain one’s trust in our society.
My question is why? Why is it so hard for us humans to trust?
Could it be because we break trust so easily, because we are all flawed and fail to see the importance behind it? Or could it be that we make trust so complicated that we would rather lose it than go through the rollercoaster of keeping it?
And then of course when one decides to climb back into the boat there is always that possibility of getting hurt again.
Let us be honest. The only reason we have not climbed back into the boat is because we are scared.
Whether that is scared of having a broken heart, being rejected, or being disappointed. At the end of the day, we are too scared of what that person will do to us if we climb back.
Now, that is of course “if”, after you have measured the outcome.
Well, this sounds a lot like selfishness to me. I know, it is a big word when you compare it to trust. To trust, you've got to be selfless.
Look at the story of Jonah. First God told him to do something, but Jonah did not want to. So, what did he do? He climbed out of the boat – which is the will of God – and instead of staying there he climbed into his own boat – his will – which of course did not have God in it.
We all know the story, Jonah tried to flee from God which made him end up in a fish’s stomach (crazy I know).
Why? Because he simply did not want to trust God and so he had to trust God the hard way. Finally, Jonah was ready, finally he was in the same boat as God. By following his own will and not trusting God from the start, Jonah only made things harder for himself. To be in the same boat as God, we need to be able to trust God with our emotions, our will, our thoughts, everything! It is not trust if you are holding back.
If you love someone you automatically trust that person. But you cannot love that person the way he or she deserves if you do not know genuine love, God’s love.
If we want to trust God, we need to love Him, but you cannot if you do not know His love for you. It all comes down to His love.
We love because He first loved us (1 John 4:19). Because we know God’s love for us, we love Him and because we love Him, we can only but trust God.
This is big, because then we can ask: If you do not trust God, do you love Him? I know it is a big question, but it is the truth.
If you are telling me, you cannot trust God, then I want to ask you do you love Him?
We can even take it one step further. If you cannot trust God, then I want to ask you: Do you even know the Father’s love for you? Because if you did then you would not have any problem trusting God. Because you know what God has done for you and what He is willing to do for you.
