MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Free training in writing and recording music is being offered free of charge by the Mossel Bay Municipality Youth and Sports Development Office.
June is Youth Month and staff of the Youth Office have been active with projects the young people in the Mossel Bay area.
This week the Youth Office launched its second stint of creative arts and media training, in collaboration with Wonderful SA.
The first course was run in March this year, drawing six participants, which have since grown to eight.
Participants get studio time not just to write and record their music, but they are offered a safe space of free expression in a healthy and constructive manner.
During the training, they discuss topics including relationships, family, conflict resolution and mentorship.
Also organised by the Youth and Development Office for Friday, 30 June, is a visit by provincial Minister of Infrastructure Services, Tertuis Simmers, at the Indoor Sports Centre from 12:00 to 14:00.
The minister will, during this engagement, discuss youth empowerment programmes available.
From 10 to 13 July the SUFF Academy is linking with the Youth Office to provide training opportunities for the youth.
Next up, this July, is enabling the youth to become smarter by using their smart phones.
The training, a free online mobile literacy course, is aimed at youth 18 to 35 years of age. Training is presented at the Indoor Sports Centre on 10 and 11 July, as well as 12 and 13 July. Send an email to joshua@suff.co.za or WhatsApp 061 759 7038.
The SUFF Academy developed three pillars of training: technical programmes, skills training and arts development.
The Youth Office is calling on young women, aged 18 to 35, to apply to do a mail technician course presented by SEDA.
Dates and times will be shared following the recruitment process. There is space for 25 women. Applicants from all 15 wards within the greater Mossel Bay area are welcome to apply.
