MOSSEL BAY NEWS -  There was a fire in a coffee shop at the Bayside Centre on Bland Street in Mossel Bay today, Tuesday 6 December. It took place at about 14:30.

Koffiqi coffee shop manager Theresa Smith said it was the chip fryer that caught alight. "Luckily it was only the chip fryer."

She said the Bayside Centre manager, a person who was painting a mural in the coffee shop and the barista put the fire out, using the coffee shop fire extinguishers.

Mossel Bay Fire and Disaster Management vehicles arrived on the scene soon afterwards.
The firefighters "got rid of the smoke and made sure everything was okay", Smith said.
