MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Western Cape Department of Health has identified 7 areas where community screening for Covid-19 will begin next week.
Asla Park, Mossel Bay has been earmarked for screening from Monday afternoon or at the latest, Tuesday morning.
According to the latest statistics released by the Department on Friday, 3 April, Mossel Bay has 10 confirmed cases of Covid-19, George, 12 and Knysna, 8.
Community screening is going to be an important tool to stop the spread of Coronavirus among communities. New and additional sites for community screening will be communicated as they are confirmed.
“Community healthcare workers will be clearly identifiable by their uniforms and ID cards, and members of the public are advised to request the person's credentials as part of rigorous safety precautions.”
Police spokesperson, Wo Pieter Koekemoer on behalf of the joint operation centre in Mossel Bay dealing with Covid-19 eventualities in Mossel Bay, confirmed that members of the South African Police Services will also be on site at the mobile testing station. “Testing will only be done by the Department of Health at the mobile station. We ask the community to remain vigilant and not to allow people into their homes, pretending to do Covid-19 testing.”
