MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Colour Run concept has been experienced by more than six million runners worldwide, in more than 35 countries.
The untimed 5km event has no winners and no prizes and runners are showered with coloured powder, made of food-grade corn starch.
Forget about your personal best and think more about having the time of your life.
Join your friends on a 5km fun run where you'll be smashed from head to toe in organic powder, while also dancing your way through dreamy foam clouds and experiencing thousands of perfect photo opportunities.
Participants can walk, skip, run or dance the course.
The Colour Run organisers want the world to be a happier place.
According to statistics more than 60% of the participants are running a 5km race for the first time and more than 70% are women aged 18 to 40.
Runners begin dressed in clean white T-shirts, and pass through three colour stations and two music stations - something every kilometre.
The Summer Music Colour Run is a unique brand conceptualised to focus on holiday and summer time and for the first time has combined the music element with a powder element, making more excitement en route for everyone.
The events are built on three core beliefs:
Healthiness: while the events are all about having fun, the organisers also want to encourage everyone to lead a healthier lifestyle, both physically and mentally.
Happiness: "Seeing just how many smiles the colour run has put on people's faces over these past few years is an absolutely indescribable feeling; it really is our greatest achievement yet, and the pursuit of creating happiness drives us every day," say the organisers.
Individuality: "We live in a world of endless variety, and that's an amazing thing. Whoever you are, whatever your story, we believe you are fierce, strong and magical, and the events we produce celebrate that."
Giving back
As a for-profit event management company, the Colour Run organisers partner with charities.
"We want to shine a light on all their amazing work and raise awareness of their cause. This year we are proudly in support of the Hermanus-based NPO, The Mentoring Project.co.za."
