GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - The South African Police Service invites members of the community that are energetic, intelligent, physically and mentally fit and that are dedicated, with the desire to serve their country on a voluntary basis as reservists, to assist the police in the fight against crime.
A reservist performs voluntary duty in the South African Police Service without any expectation of receiving compensation for such duty.
In terms of the Regulations of the South African Reserve Police Service, reservists may be called up by the National Commissioner to perform duties in order to strengthen and support the police in performing their constitutional mandate.
Reservists are expected to perform a minimum of 16 hours' voluntary duty per month.
Applications to serve at all the local police stations are required.
"We are in particular looking for support from reservists in the Herbertsdale area," says Sgt Kappie Kapp from the KwaNonqaba Police Sation.
The closing date for applications is 28 February.
