BUSINESS NEWS - There are many reasons to enjoy the Garden Route 4x4 Outdoor Show and Home Expo at Bartelsfontein Farm outside Mossel Bay from 26 to 28 November.
Besides the thrill of the 4x4 events and beauty of the Home Expo section, which will already attract many visitors, there will be high profile strongman and crossfit events.
The African Strongman competition is taking place at the expo on Saturday and Sunday, 27 and 28 November. Competitors will vie for the title of Africa's Strongest Man.
This competition is being organised by Shane Jensen (076 364 4586), the president of the Southern Cape Strongman Union, which falls under the African Strongman Union. Competitors have to have done a provincial competition to quality.
Strongman and -woman competitions are immensely exciting. Here is the chance to observe raw power in action.

There will be top, elite athletes in each division - four women's divisions and four men's divisions - from throughout Africa.
Watching someone pulling a truck, anything from four to 20 tons, is not to be missed. There will be a barbell deadlift and tossing of a beer keg, plus a log press, axel press and dumbell press. In the running medley, athletes must complete runs with four different apparatus. They only have a certain amount of time to complete the runs.
They finish the contest with throwing "Atlas stones" - large, round cement balls.
Now this is power!
Eden Summer Slam
Then, for crossfit fans, there is the Eden Summer Slam taking place, also on 27 and 28 November.
There are beginners', intermediate and advanced sections in this competition.
Previously people who have not done crossfit before, have entered in the beginners' section. Organiser of the Eden Summer Slam, Ruben Burger, says:
"We would like as many people to enter as possible and raise the profile of crossfit as a sport. You don't have to have done crossfit before to enter the beginners' section."
This is the fifth consecutive year of the Eden Summer Slam, which is organised under Crossfit Charisma and Eden Fitness.

Crossfit is exciting for competitors and spectators.
There is entertainment for the whole family at the Garden Route 4x4 Outdoor Show and Home Expo. The show is televised annually. There are musicians and singers, food stalls and a beer tent.
