MOTORING NEWS - The well-established Chinese truck and vehicle manufacturer JAC has appointed a dealer in George as part of its fast-growing national network. Dealer principal Hilton Cooks is well-known as a motoring fundi and he has now added a tried truck and double cab from JAC to his dealership. JAC is the popular name for the fifth largest Chinese truck and vehicle manufacturer that has more than fifty years of automotive manufacturing experience.
For vibrant and continuing development, JAC has a national-level Research and Development (R&D) Centre in Hefei and also set up China's first overseas R&D Centre in Italy in 2005 and a second one in Japan, in 2006.

In 2010, JAC was one of the top ten most productive vehicle manufacturers in China, selling 458 500 units for a 2,5% market share and reaching eighth place in a huge economy. Volkswagen has sent its experts to work with JAC R&D team, and a group of more than 30 staff are jointly designing and developing the first car of joint venture.
All in all, this means that though the brand is new to the Southern Cape, it is already a global player with a network of 30 dealers in South Africa.
