MOSSEL BAY BOWLING NEWS - The fifth round of the 2020 Afrishore Spring Bowling Business League was completed on Thursday, 27 February, with another fantastic evening of lawn bowls provided by all the participating teams.
At the end of Round 5, Drema have overtaken Needles & Pins and moved into first place on 50 points.
The next three positions are separated by only three points, with Needles & Pins in second place on 46 points. They are followed by Primapart in third place on 45 points and in fourth place on 44 points are Macniel Distributors.
Rollos and the Gang are in fifth place on 42.5 points, followed by Mass Hire on 41 points. There are three teams all tied on 40 points - namely Fork 'n Bowls, Hi-Q and Dolphin Café.
Leading the "Touchers Competition" on eight touchers after Round 5 is Douw Herbst from Chas Everitt and he is closely followed on seven touchers by a group of seven bowlers. These are Claude Kruger from Needles & Pins, Deno Daniels from Hi-Q, "Groot Piet Pienaar" from Drema, Cabous Bezuidenhout from Mesco and André Rall from Henra.
Andries Lindeque of Embroidery Haven won the "Spider", scooping a voucher from Van Renen Financial Services for a free tax assessment for the 2020 tax year and a bottle of wine from Mossel Bay Bowls Club.
Round 6 will be a tight affair among the top teams after Round 5 as any one of six teams are in with a chance of being crowned the 2020 Afrishore Spring Bowling Business League Champions. I am sure we will see a few upsets, because at this stage of the competition the form book over the previous five rounds can be discarded.
