MOSSEL BAY SPORT NEWS - The fourth round of the 2020 Afrishore Spring Bowling Business League was completed on Thursday, 20 February, with Mossel Bay once again providing a beautiful evening for lawn bowls.
Needles & Pins have bounced back to take first place on 42 points.
Drema have bettered their position from last week and are now in second place on 40 points. Primapart, Mass Hire and Fork 'n Bowls are tied for third place on 36 points and in touching distance of the two leading teams.
In sixth place, on 34 points, are Macniel Distributors. With two rounds of bowls to go, any of the top six teams have a chance of lifting the trophy.
Leading the "Touchers Competition" on seven touchers after Round 4 are Claude Kruger from Needles & Pins and Deno Daniels from Hi-Q.
One toucher back on six touchers is Douw Herbst from Chas Everitt and he is closely followed on five touchers by a group of seven bowlers, namely Jerry van der Mescht from Primapart, "Groot Piet Pienaar" from Drema, John Barnard from Whalers, Andries Lindeque from Embroidery Haven, Andre' Rall from Henra, Pieter Snyders from Primpart and Cabous Bezuidenhout from Mesco.
Claude Elliot from Needles & Pins won the "Spider", and was given a voucher from Hi-Q Mossel Bay and a bottle of wine from Mossel Bay Bowls Club.
Mitchell Blignaut from Steel & Pipes won the "Corner to Corner", taking home a voucher from Van Renen Financial Services for a free tax assessment for the 2020 tax year and bottle of wine from Mossel Bay Bowls Club.
Round 5 will no doubt produce bowls of a high standard from all the teams, with the race to finish top and to finish in the top 10 becoming more interesting. Good luck to all and more importantly to all bowlers, once again enjoy the evening.
